TMD is designed to effectively absorb energy when a vibration system vibrates at its natural frequency f0. It is a passive vibration control system because it can only respond to the motion of the original system.Working Principle:Principle of Passive Tuned Mass DamperModern structures with slender, cantilevered shapes typically have a lower degree of structural damping, making them susceptible to vibration excitations caused by wind and traffic loads, as well as pedestrian movement. Tuned mass dampers can increase structural damping, thereby reducing resonant vibrations. Tuned mass dampers can be adjusted according to the natural frequency of the structure, consisting of rigid bodies (pendulum or spring), damping elements, and moving mass bodies.
